What the map shows

  • Everyone on your site now

    Visitors from the last 5 minutes, with their countries shaded and a marker for each city showing how many people are there.

  • Arrivals as they happen

    New visitors appear within a second of landing, with no refreshing. Visitors who leave drop off the map after 5 minutes.

  • Who each visitor is, roughly

    A live list beside the map: city and region, the page they're on, their browser and device, and where they came from, such as Google, a newsletter or ChatGPT.

  • Click to fly to them

    Pick a visitor and the map zooms to their city. Zoom and pan freely, then reset to the whole world.

A public live map

A link anyone can open without an account, showing your visitors live, alongside your public dashboard. Handy for launch days and build-in-public updates.

A map without tracking people

Visitor maps usually mean cookies, fingerprinting or storing IP addresses. Hark does none of those:

  • Location is looked up from the visitor's connection before the request reaches us. We keep the country, region and city, and a position rounded to about 1 km.
  • IP addresses and user agents are never stored. Unique visitors are counted with a hash that uses a salt we delete every 24 hours.
  • No cookies, so no consent banner, and nothing that follows people from one site to another.
  • The script is about 1.5 KB compressed, so it won't slow your pages down.

Questions

Can I put the map on my own website?
Not as an embedded widget. Make your site public and you can link to its live map, or add the live visitor badge, which shows how many people are on your site and links to the map.
How accurate is each visitor's location?
City level, looked up from the visitor's connection. People on VPNs, mobile networks or office networks can show up in a nearby city, or wherever their provider is.
Do I need a cookie consent banner?
Not for Hark. It sets no cookies and doesn't store IP addresses or anything else that identifies a visitor.
Are bots shown on the map?
Known bots, crawlers and AI scrapers are filtered out when their visits arrive, so the map shows people.
Is it only a map?
No. The map is one page of full website analytics: visitors, pageviews and bounce rate over time, top pages, sources including AI assistants, countries, devices, UTM campaigns and goals.
How much does it cost?
